About This Plant

Philodendron Painted Lady is a colorful horticultural hybrid known for new leaves that emerge bright yellow-green to chartreuse with mottled green markings, then deepen in color as they mature. Pink to red stems and petioles add even more color and make this plant stand out even when it isn't pushing a new leaf.

Painted Lady is widely traced to a Philodendron hybrid developed by breeder Robert H. McColley in Orlando, Florida from ‘Burgundy’ and ‘Emerald Queen’ as part of his extensive Philodendron breeding program. Unlike a naturally occurring Philodendron species, Painted Lady was created through horticultural hybridization.

How to Keep It Happy

Light: Bright, indirect or filtered light is best. Good light helps maintain the colorful foliage, but harsh direct sun can scorch the leaves.

Water: Water when the upper portion of the potting mix begins to dry. Water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain rather than keeping the roots constantly wet.

Soil: Use an airy, well-draining potting mix with plenty of drainage and root aeration.

Humidity: Prefers moderate to higher humidity but can adapt to normal household humidity.
