About This Plant
Hoya Kerrii Splash is a cultivated silver-marked form of the species Hoya kerrii, not a hybrid. The underlying species is native from Indochina to western Malesia, including Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaya and Java, where it grows as a climbing epiphyte or lithophyte.
This Hoya is known for its thick, heart-shaped leaves decorated with silvery splash markings that vary naturally across the foliage. Unlike the single rooted Hoya hearts commonly sold as novelty plants, this is an established, actively growing vine.
This plant has been growing in my care for over 12 months, was up-potted about 8 weeks ago and is currently showing fresh new growth.
Why You’ll Love It
- Thick, heart-shaped foliage with silvery splash markings
- Established in my care for over 12 months
- Currently showing fresh new growth
- Can be trained to climb or allowed to trail
- A full growing plant rather than a single rooted heart leaf
How to Keep It Happy
Light: Provide bright, indirect or filtered light. Gentle morning sun may be suitable after gradual acclimation, but harsh direct afternoon sun can damage the foliage.
Water: Allow the potting medium to dry well between waterings, then water thoroughly and allow all excess water to drain. Avoid keeping the roots continuously wet.
Soil: Use a chunky, airy and fast-draining potting medium that provides plenty of oxygen around the roots.
Humidity: Adapts to average household humidity. Approximately 40–60% is generally suitable, although moderately higher humidity may support growth when paired with good airflow.
Temperature: Prefers temperatures around 65–80°F. Protect from cold drafts and temperatures below 55°F.
Current Growing Conditions
Environment: Greenhouse-grown and moved indoors and outdoors seasonally
Humidity: Approximately 60–75%
Current Light: Shaded greenhouse with bright indirect sunlight
Current Potting Medium: Happy Houseplant Haven’s Chunky Aroid Mix
Recent Repot: Up-potted about 8 weeks ago
This plant may need 7–14 days to acclimate to the light, temperature and humidity in its new home. Some leaf movement, repositioning or temporary slowing of growth can occur during the adjustment period.
Because it currently receives shaded greenhouse light, introduce substantially brighter light or direct morning sun gradually.
This plant was recently up-potted and should not need another immediate repot. Allow it to settle into its new environment before making additional changes unless there is a clear problem with the pot or growing medium.
Important Plant Note
Live plants naturally change over time and may have small cosmetic imperfections, including minor leaf marks, natural blemishes or older leaf damage. New growth may also continue developing between the time the plant is photographed and purchased.
